Millions of raped German women: where the legs grow from? Reblog of a detailed research article

Continuing with reblogs of excellent articles by Olga of the Siberian Matrëshka Telegram channel, which we can warmly recommend, let us look at the topic of the black myths created around the conduct of the Red Army on the German territory. We shall continue this topic in several subsequent posts.

Millions of raped German women: where the legs grow from *

* that is: where something is coming from

In recent years, Victory Day has acquired another, alas, not very beautiful tradition: the closer the holiday, the more often all kinds of “researchers” begin to broadcast the myth of “raped Germany”.

At the same time, the number of German women allegedly affected by the Red Army only grows over the years.

Three books say that this is the “pure truth”: Martha Hillers’ book “A Woman in Berlin”, the book of the English historian Anthony Beevor “The Fall of Berlin”, and the memoirs of my compatriot WWII veteran Leonid Rabichev “War will write everything off”. All these books have one main idea: the only thing that the Soviet soldiers did, was that they drank and fucked everything that could be fucked. How such an army reached Berlin remains a mystery, nothing less than a miracle of the Lord.

I took the time to find out where these books and their authors grow their legs from. Obviously from the ass, of course, but here are the details. Moreover, I partially read these three books.

Partially, not completely, but enough to draw conclusions.

I want to remind you right away that a huge army of tired, angry and exhausted soldiers entered Berlin, and it would be extremely stupid to bet that all of them had never done anything in their lives. However, in the Soviet army, violence and looting were severely punished, it was Stalin’s personal order. More than 4,000 soldiers were sent to court for looting attempts, demoted and sent to the penal battalion. It is also documented (newspapers, leaflets) that German propaganda actively promoted the theme of evil Soviet rapists. Like, they enter cities and first of all take revenge on everyone they meet, raping women “from 8 to 80 years old” – this is a quote from German newspapers that Goebbels came up with. People were afraid, naturally rumors arose, somewhere someone told something to someone, etc., etc. And the people were really intimidated to the limit, to the point that the activists of the Nazi party killed their families first, and then themselves.

Martha Hillers

So, Martha Hillers. Here is her brief biography: Hillers was born in 1911 in Krefeld. She travelled a lot in Europe, visited the USSR, worked in Moscow, at Soyuzfoto, knew Russian well. In the mid-1930s, she began working as a journalist in Berlin and supported the National Socialists. Hillers joined the Imperial German Writers’ Union and began writing for the NSDAP propaganda newspaper Angrif, founded by Joseph Goebbels. That is, a person who began writing for Goebbels even before the start of the Second World War and who wrote the entire war, published memoirs discrediting the honour of Goebbels’ opponent and people like “oh yes, it’s true, we believe it!”. The book talks about how the author herself was repeatedly subjected to sexual violence by Soviet soldiers and, as a matter of principle, women were forced to give up their bodies in exchange for life. Hillers’ book was published in 1954 and translated into many languages, but the women of Germany boycotted the book: they claimed that they were not as fallen and easily accessible women as it is written in the book. The book was translated into Russian in 2018. Now this book is banned in Russia, as discrediting the honour of the heroes of the Second World War. Based on the book, a film was made in 2008, the film was not included in the ranks of the banned in Russia.

A still from the film “Nameless”, based on the book “Woman in Berlin” by Martha Hillers.

Anthony Beevor wrote the book “The Fall of Berlin” and it was he who voiced the figure of 2 million raped German women. He deduced this figure by the most complicated mathematical calculations. Beevor found a document according to which 12 out of 237 children born in 1945 and 20 out of 567 children born in 1946 had Russian fathers. At the same time, there is no information whether children were born as a result of rape or it was a voluntary decision of women. Then comes some completely idiotic scheme of multiplying everything by everyone (probably he skipped math lessons).

So, initially there were 32 Russian babies – remember this. After that, he calculated that 12 of 237 is 5%, and 20 is 3.5% of 567. Of these, he took 5% of all those born in 1945-1946 and calculated that all 5% of children in Berlin were born as a result of rape. In total, 23,124 people were born during this time, 5% of this figure – 1,156. Then he multiplied this figure by 10, making the assumption that 90% of German women had an abortion and multiplied by 5, making another assumption that as a result of rape she became pregnant in 20% of cases. He received 57,810 people, which is approximately 10% of the 600 thousand women of childbearing age who were in Berlin. Next, Beevor took a slightly modernized formula of old Goebbels “all women from 8 to 80 years old were subjected to numerous rapes.” There were still about 800,000 women of childbearing age in Berlin, 10% of this figure – 80,000. Adding 57,810 and 80,000 he got 137,810 and rounded up to 135,000, then did the same with 3.5% and gets 95,000. Then he extrapolated this to the whole of East Germany and got 2 million raped German women. The stories themselves are also very strange. Basically, they are like this: “I was not personally raped, but my neighbour told me…”. Or here’s an interesting story about how a drunken Soviet soldier (in the book, in principle, in all stories the Soviet army is always drunk) knocked on a German woman’s house, she told him to leave and he left. The conclusion of this story is unequivocal: he came to rape her. Or a sentimental story about a 14-year-old German boy and his little sister, who had nothing to eat and went to the Soviet soldiers. They fed them, gave them drink and gave food, the children took the food to their mother. So they walked for three days. And then they heard from a neighbour that the Russians were raping everyone in a row, got scared, hid their mother in the basement and didn’t go anymore to them.

And again the same conclusion: the Soviet army raped everyone.

Doesn’t it remind you of Ukrainian stories from the special military operation zone?

Well, WWII veteran Leonid Rabichev. In 2005, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Victory, a collection of his stories “War will write everything off” is published. This is an absolutely disgusting read, the reading of which again raises the question: How did the army get to Berlin, if every kilometer they stopped to fuck someone? The book is replete with details of how soldiers with their dicks at the ready lined up for 16-year-old German girls, who were forcibly held by other soldiers. How they raped everyone indiscriminately, and so that they would not have anything for it, then the women were killed. And in general they killed everyone just for fun. Rabichev himself, of course, was a ray of light in a dark kingdom, he did nothing of the sort, but he could not interfere in any way. He quietly helped German women escape from the captivity of Soviet machos. Why Rabichev suddenly remembered all this only 60 years later is a mystery of nature. Before that, he already had attempts to attract attention to himself. For example, at the age of 78, he suddenly announced that he was an artist and exhibited at the Manezh in 1962 at an exhibition that Хrushchev dispersed. However, he could not remember the name of his paintings, and when asked where they are now, he answered that “someone bought them”. In 2004, Rabichev stated that V.O. Bogomolov stole stories from him and released them under his own name. This happened almost immediately after the death of Bogomolov, while he was alive, Rabichev didn’t make any claims against him because of something. Rabichev insisted on his own for a long time, until he fell for the little things: according to him, he visited Bogomolov many times, they were just best friends, but he gave the address of the apartment incorrectly. In the poetic community, Rabichev was ridiculed and he admitted that he had made a mistake with the address, but no one took him seriously anymore. In general, grandfather has obvious age problems, a great desire to draw attention to his person, but the book is well written thanks to the editorial staff with someone’s help and for certain purposes. Maybe Rabichev was even given a couple of rоubles to retire for his authorship.

And then there’s Anthony Burgess. This is a famous English writer. In 1942, he married a sweet girl, Louella Jones, who soon became pregnant. In 1942, four thugs broke into the Burgess’ house. The villains raped and brutally beat тхе pregnant woman. The rapists turned out to be American soldiers. Louella lost her baby. She never recovered from this incident. After a severe depression, she had a severe psychosis, then she began to drink and died of cirrhosis of the liver. Her life was destroyed.

In 1949, Burgess wrote the book “A Clockwork Orange”, which also contains a description of this terrible incident.

Four brutalized American soldiers commit atrocities on the territory of England, their ally. This is a proven fact, not Goebbels propaganda.

And who watched the movie “Rage”? What did the American tankers do when they entered the apartment of a German mother and daughter? Let me remind you – they ate and took them to their rooms. But the film is generally good, about the characters.

Well, how can one not remember about occupied France, in which the Nazis, in principle, had the goal of impregnating as many women as possible in order to replenish children with special institutions in which, according to Hitler’s idea, soldiers loyal to the Wehrmacht would be raised. For the birth of a child from a German, French women were given a bag of sweet peanuts and some money. These same women were later subjected to humiliation and disgrace, although only the French men were to blame, who preferred to surrender, go over to the side of the enemy or escape into the forests, leaving the women and children face to face with the occupying army.

But that’s a completely different story.

And from the present, we can recall Julian Assange, whom an American court put in prison for 175 years for publishing video materials in which American soldiers, just for fun, shoot the civilian population of Afghanistan and Iraq. Video, that is, documentary material. Not anonymous stories of neighbours. But no one says a word, no one condemns, no one publishes a book.

Historian Yuri Zhukov argued that rape and other crimes were mostly committed not by Red Army soldiers, but by former Red Army soldiers and civilians just released from concentration camps, once driven to Germany … they were not under the control of the command, waiting to be sent home, there was generally a rather motley crowd of repatriates. They got into gangs and began to rob the locals, to recoup the humiliation that they had to endure. And since this happened in the zone of responsibility of the Soviet troops, all this was passed on to our servicemen. There is other evidence: how the allies liberated from the camps were engaged in robberies in Berlin, stuffing wheelbarrows with junk, and at the exit from the city ours already demanded that everything be returned to its place. Another point: in the same reports of military prosecutors, it is often indicated that slanders occur when the alleged rapes were not confirmed, while the commanders managed to punish the innocent. A very interesting diary was left by the Australian correspondent Osmar White, who accompanied the American army and visited all zones of occupation. He did not feel much sympathy for us, but argued that the Red Army, unlike the allied ones, was very disciplined, that the Soviet administration was very effective not only in combating crime, but also in the field of rebuilding cities and providing the population with everything necessary for life. And that all the horrors that are told about our soldiers are, on the one hand, rumours and gossip, on the other hand, these crimes are mostly committed by repatriates.

But on the basis of the memoirs of the Goebbels’s journalist and the grandfather in dementia, people quite calmly accuse the Soviet troops, who saved the world from Nazism, of all sorts of shit. And nowhere do they see anything amiss, everything in their brains forms perfectly into a single picture.

“Our propaganda about the Russians and what the population should expect from them in Berlin was so successful that we brought the Berliners to a state of extreme horror,” said propagandist Werner Naumann.

On May 7, 2018, the Western edition of The Conversation published an article by Canadian scientist Heidi Matthews under the loud title “Remember the raped German women the same way you remember Victory Day.” And the legs of this version grow from the biased research of Barbara Yor, who relied on data from maternity hospitals and indirect data – that is, from German women who gave birth from Russian soldiers. But firstly, not all German women who gave birth were raped, and secondly, not all those who were raped became pregnant. According to them, only a quarter of the children from Russians in 1945-1946 were the fruits of rape, while Yor accepted this share as one hundred percent. To be fair, Heidi Matthews’ article attempts to explain where the multi-million figure comes from. She noted that the memory of sexual violence is always linked to politics, and emphasized that the memory of the rapes of 1945, in many ways, resembles the structure of the #MeToo movement. That is, some facts of intimate relations between German women and Russian soldiers could be on a voluntary basis, but be ambiguous from the point of view of morality and advisability, that is, entering into intimacy for food, for protection, for help in restoring the house and the safety of the family. The fact of rape cannot be denied. Soviet soldiers themselves report them. However, the Soviet command always reacted harshly, and hundreds of death sentences were handed down for established facts of violence. Two million rapes under such measures would not have been daredevils. Control was tight. In each occupied settlement, a commandant’s office was created, which provided the population with food and medicine. Order was controlled by the commandant’s patrol service.

According to the First Prosecutor’s Office of the Belorussian Front, far from all the outrages were committed by soldiers of the Red Army: “Violence, and especially robbery and hoarding, is widely practised by the repatriated, following the points of repatriation, and especially Italians, Dutch and even Germans. At the same time, all these outrages are being dumped on our servicemen.”

And by the way, the latest research on rape in the American zone of occupation shows figures that are difficult to distinguish from the Soviet zone of occupation. So the question should have been raised not about what the Soviet army did in the liberated territories, but about how, in principle, multimillion-strong armies behave on enemy territory, and what measures the commanders use to stop unworthy behaviour.
