What is our Main Goal?

Dear Friends,

There is something alarming in the everyday Ladonian administration.

I see a near-unstoppable development towards introspective bureaucracy within the Cabinet (in which I am a part of as the Minister of Propaganda), as has been witnessed several times in the past in other civilizations. In all cases resulting in the downfall of the civilization.

It seems as if the main interest within the administration is to support issues rather than progress. We tend to put more effort and energy into debating relatively meaningless and small matters, such as Bjoerksaetra, the residence of our beloved Queen Ywonne I Jarl, micronations and our relation towards them, personal viewpoints of fellow ministers etc., than in working for what should be the most important goal for us all: to convince the Kingdom of Sweden (and ultimately the UN) to acknowledge Ladonia as an independent state.

Ladonia is without question a physically existing country. Something I suspect many of my colleagues and fellow Ladonians tend to forget. It is located on Kullaberg, and it is physically visited by thousands of tourists every year. The facts that our citizens/subjects are from all over the world, the administration is represented by various nationalities and that our meetings and interaction has been made possible by the Internet, are to be regarded merely as strong tools for our beloved country's struggle for independence.

If we start to treat these tools as the true version of Ladonia, we are close to loosing the very reason for the country's existence: A Meaning.

Without the Nimis and the Arx, there would not be a Ladonia. Without the tourists that visit these attractions, there would be no meaning to the Nimis and the Arx. And without Sweden's failure to enforce the decision to demolish the Nimis and the Arx, there would be no meaning in declaring Ladonia as an independent state.

Opinions that state Ladonia to be something else, are probably a product of those who have never visited Ladonia. Because of this, these people have very little empathy for the real nation. And their attitude rubs off on others...

All suggested activities that increase the need for administration and bureaucracy, such as contacts with other micronations, the incorporation of Bjoerksaetra etc., are a sure way to decrease the importance of the existing and very real piece of land: Ladonia.

And, in the long run, the possibility for Ladonia to actually become an accepted, independent state.

However, initiatives taken by our Secretary of State, the embassy in Falkenberg and especially the colony to be claimed in Norway on the 17th of May, are more in line with the meaning of Ladonia. These are not imaginary claims, but based on real and existing pieces of land with actual "Ladonian constructions" on them. They are strong message-bearers outside Ladonia, that certainly broaden the awareness of it amongst the wider public – and hopefully engender sympathy for our cause.

And, most importantly, these actions do not spawn further needless administration.

All things considered, I urge my fellow Ladonians to concentrate more on dynamic issues that actually serve the interests of Ladonia and to demand fast and progressive desicions from the heads of state and the Cabinet.

Remember: the role of our rulers and administrators is to benefit Ladonia – NOT to be self-perpetuating.

The Ministry of Propaganda

Lord Aslak Viking
Minister
