Dear Lars and everyone!
This is a direct answer to our state secr. request for
new projects.
I can tell you about an idea i got some time ago, regarding a rather unknown detective writer. His name was Folke Mellvig, he died in 1995, at an age of 82. Folke's most famous work is a youth thriller called "Kullamannen" or translated to english "The man of Kullen". Now, Kullen is the part of south Scandinavia, where Ladonia is situated, so this is the logical connection between late Mr Mellvig and our beloved country. Many of us, being children in the 70s, saw the screen version of "Kullamannen" on the telly, and I myself was scared during every episode. Some characters in the story were rather scary; amongst them a scientist who called himself Dr Miller and who very much resembled a certain Dr Mengele. The thriller was filmed in black and white and a lot of scenes, accompanied with extremely terrifying music, showed the angry sea and the wet, cold, sharp, dark cliffs, over which many people have fallen during the years. When people fall over the cliffs and die it is said, according to old folklore, that
Kullamannen gets them.
From this young age, I always somewhere deep down knew that I would return to Kullen and Kullaberg someday. I suppose this is the return, then.
I guess this project, which is evolving, could incorporate anyone who feels a need to come to terms with the life-long trauma, caused by the thriller. Ladonia is situated right amongst those cliffs, appearing in the series, and not far from our country is Himmelstorp, a beautiful farmhouse which had a profound role in the thriller. These bindings between the fiction story and Ladonia have to be dealt with. The darkness are going to become illuminated. The whole of Kullen is going to be a fair and nice place in our minds, not just Ladonia.
Some important steps concerns:
1) a re-reading of the book Kullamannen, in an eonatic way
2) investigations regarding late Mr Folke Mellvig and his Life History
3) from 1) and 2) extracting important facts and knowledge about life and living
4) aiming to present late Mr Mellvig as a honorary citizen of Ladonia for eternity
These are the outlines at present moment.
I hope someone else is interested to join this task; if so write me a mail. You don't have to have that trauma of course, but just being interested in entering an enigmatic and necessary journey.
Best Regards
