: : Eh, sorry
: : I´m not going to become a new minister of killjoy,
: : but I cannot say I like the idea.
: : White letters on a dark background is one of the major sins in graphic design,
: : it is so for a reason.
: : Please, keep the letters dark and the background light.
: : I find the idea of having the ladonian shield (crest?) OK,
: : but in it´s present form it´s too active to function well as a background.
: : I´d say, if we decide to change the board,
: : that we use black letters, and brighten the shield very much up.
: : Brighten up!

: : Sir Nemolom

: Dear Sir,

: White letters on black background may be a sin in graphical design, aimed to be printed on paper, but on screen it is the best color combination for one's eyes. Many screen's refresh rate is too low, which results in flickering. The flickring may be not directly visibale, but it is still registered by you eyes. Such flickering is more noticable when the major part of the screen is white/bright than when the screen is black/dark. (Black does not need to be "refreshed"). Moreover such permanent flickering can lead to a physical damage of one's eyes.

: I'd like all of you who read this text make an experiment: Look for ten seconds above the screen, while paying attantion to what you screen does. On most screens you would notice that the white areas are blinking!

: I do not know too much about graphical design, so mayhap you are right that the coat of arms is too active to act as a background, yet I have studied the effect of screens on a person's health and can say that white/bright background can be very damaging.

: Perhaps our minister of healt should look into this problem?

: Nemo.

Hummmmm, very good idea, to do something about the board. The 'stonlike' image is kind of good too, but, there is a but
The white background is only a problem on screens because it it to bright. The brighness can be adjusted on the design of the board
AND - more important - on each and everyones screen. That is where the major problem with the eye-health is. TOO bright screens
The 'troubles' reading black letters on white har to do with the shine from the screen, and as you say the flicker. BUT the oposite
Black background and white letters, will be very much against the human design of the eyes. And that to will be damaging in the healthcare of the eyes. There is only one way to avoid this, and that is HUGE, BOLD letters
and that is not very practical for us - is it ?
- So my advice is; light colored background, black letters.
- For the sake of all peoples health when using computers, put money in the screen, when you buy new, and adjust the brightness.
Allmost everyone have far to much brightness, and bad ligtening conditions on their computerdesk/ room
I know nothing about HTML - But I can see what can be done - but please give me time.......
